O regon DEQ says SHARPS are things like needles, IV tubing with needles, scalpel blades, lancets, glass tubes, and syringes that aren’t in their original sterile packages. They also require that you either burn or sterilize SHARPS waste, and you can’t just throw it in the trash! Oregon law says you need to store and get rid of used sharps properly. Sharps include needles, lancets, and syringes, and they have to be kept in special bio-hazard containers (don’t use milk jugs or coffee cans for this!).
Southern Oregon Sanitation can help you get rid of your SHARPS the right way since you can’t dump them in the landfill. You can drop off your Sharps container at our Redwood Avenue Transfer Station in Grants Pass from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and on Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, or at our Eagle Point Office at 42 Ball Rd in Eagle Point, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
